AdFed Columbus Says Thanks

On Friday, May 21, the Advertising Federation of Columbus held an annual awards luncheon at the River Club in Confluence Park in Columbus where various leaders in the advertising industry were recognized. FOX Sports Ohio's own Michelle Kennedy, Senior Local Account Executive, and Alex Slemc, Director of Marketing, were acknowledged for going above and beyond their support and membership of the advertising and networking organization.
In addition to being active members of AdFed Columbus, Michelle and Alex worked closely with the organization to help plan, coordinate and execute a luncheon earlier this year surrounding sports marketing and social media. The event was a great success, and FOX Sports Ohio intends to continue supporting the networking group in this capacity.

Among others recognized during the luncheon, Rick Milenthal, CEO of Enguage, received the Silver Medal Award, the main honor of the afternoon.

AdFed Columbus was chartered in 1953 and is a local affiliate of the American Advertising Federation. It works to enhance the professional development of members, while increasing recognition for the advertising industry and giving back to the local community. Thanks for covering the Cleveland Gladiators: AF1 games! I hope FSO broadcasts more of their games so they can build a bigger fan base and stick around!

On the day that long time announcer Joe Tait gets recognition from the Basketball HOF, the Cavs play a very pathetic game for the playoffs. As a Cavs fan, all I have to say is that there better be a whole lot of effort in game 6 or else there need to be some changes besides signing LeBron to a long term contract!!

I like the use of charts on @FoxSportsOH. Visual info is great!

FOX Sports Takes "This Town" Into Your Town

FOX Sports has teamed up with the band O.A.R. to take their hit song, "This Town" into its sports towns. As the centerpiece for college and pro sports both nationally and regionally, the song is the focus of FOX Sports Ohio’s Cincinnati Reds promotions and has also been used for Cleveland Cavaliers and Columbus Blue Jackets games.

“Music conveys passion and elicits excitement or emotion and I think sports does the same thing,” said Alex Slemc, the director of marketing for FOX Sports Ohio. “And ‘This Town’ elicits a lot of hometown pride with your team."

Formed in 1996 in Rockville, MD, O.A.R. (an acronym for the band's full moniker, Of a Revolution) coalesced around lead singer/rhythm guitarist Marc Roberge, lead guitarist Richard On, saxophonist Jerry DePizzo, bassist Benj Gershman, and drummer Chris Culos. Roberge had known Culos since childhood; he also played in local bands with On and Gershman. DePizzo, who hails from Youngstown, met the other Maryland natives at Ohio State University. The band is planning tour stops in Cleveland and Columbus this July.

There are cruise-ins and car shows all over Ohio, every day of the week. We’re hoping to tap into that passion with Cruisin’ Ohio.”
