Dayton Flyers - On & Off The Basketball Court

FOX Sports Ohio is currently running a fast-paced television show, "Inside Dayton Flyer Basketball," produced by the University of Dayton. The half-hour piece conveys the energy, character and intensity of the Dayton Flyers — on and off the court.

Some of the features include profiles on head coach Brian Gregory, Chris Wright and the new players on the team. The show also features a short "Leadership" segment about the University of Dayton's national reputation.

"Inside Dayton Flyer Basketball" will be air at these times:
Friday, Jan. 7 8 p.m. ET
Sunday, Jan. 9 6:30 p.m. ET
Wednesday, Jan. 12 6:30 p.m. ET
Thursday, Jan. 13 10:30 p.m. ET
Saturday, Jan. 15 6:30 p.m. ET
Monday, Jan. 17 Tune TBD

"It has been a privilege for us to help share the unique and engaging story of Flyer basketball led by Coach Brian Gregory. This program is a role model for collegiate athletic programs in terms of on- and off-the-court accountability and performance," said Roy Cheran, director of business development at Mind Over Media, a multimedia communications firm in Pittsburgh that produced the television show.

In November, the University of Dayton entered into a television rights agreement with Fox Sports Ohio. The network is carrying five men's basketball games, airing the half-hour show six times and running University commercials throughout the season.

"FOX Sports Ohio is a known high-quality commodity across the state, and its broadcast footprint aligns well geographically with where many of our alumni reside and where we recruit students to attend the University of Dayton.”

Looking Back on 2010 Season of Support

Happy New Year! It's 2011 and FOX Sports Ohio is excited for all that lies ahead in the new year. But before jumping into 2011 plans, we're proud to share that with the help of a generous Northeast Ohio community and our viewers, FOX Sports Ohio impacted the lives of local families during the holiday season.
As part of the 2010 Season of Support, FOX Supports Ohio was honored to team up with various local organizations to give back to the community through a series of programs.

“We’re very fortunate to be in a position to have a positive impact on our communities. Our employees live here, we do business here, and we’re proud to serve those less fortunate,” stated Henry Ford, Senior Vice President and General Manager, FOX Sports Ohio. “If we can raise awareness of important issues or give back in a meaningful way, then our effort is always well worth it.”

The network and our charitable effort, FOX SupPORTS Ohio, launched “Season of Support” in November. The programs included:

On-Air Campaign to Raise Awareness and Funds for MyCom

Throughout the months of November and December, we partnered with the Cleveland Foundation to raise awareness and funds for the Foundation’s MyCom program. MyCom, short for My Commitment, My Community, helps coordinate and fund local agencies that provide quality youth programs, including after-school activities, summer jobs and special help during school transitions to kindergarten, middle school, high school and beyond.

MyCom’s partners are committed to providing kids with the positive experiences and caring adults they need to reach their full potential. We worked with those local community partners to boost awareness of their causes through a series of PSA’s, vignettes and features running on the network.

On December 18, when the Cavaliers played the New York Knicks at Quicken Loans Arena, we also dedicated the game to raise awareness and funds for the MyCom program. The telecast, which reached over 72,500 households that night, featured Lisa Bottoms, Program Director for Human Services and Child and Youth Development, Cleveland Foundation as well as local children benefitting from the MyCom program.

Throughout the game viewers had opportunities to make a financial contribution to MyCom via text messaging. One hundred percent of all donations went directly to MyCom.

Volunteering at the Domestic Violence Center “Twinkle Shop”

FOX Sports Ohio has been a long-time supporter of Cleveland’s Domestic Violence Center (DVC), and this holiday season provided staff the opportunity to give their time. In mid-December, the DVC hosted the “Twinkle Shop,” which provided women and children in need with the chance to shop and give to their families over the holidays. Our employees helped kids with various craft projects and interacted with the 50 women and children who reside at the DVC’s shelter. For more information on the DVC, visit http://www.domesticviolencecenter.org/.

FOX Sports Ohio volunteers enjoyed spending time with the many
women and children currently residing at the DVC.
