UC Basketball Coverage Announced

FOX Sports Ohio is pleased to announce its University of Cincinnati Bearcats 2012-13 basketball telecast schedule. The network will produce six men’s and two women’s games this season. In addition, the network will carry six men’s basketball games and one women’s game produced by the BIG EAST Network, bringing the total to 15 UC basketball games on the state-wide network.

FOX Sports Ohio further prepares for the start of the Bearcats basketball season with a preview show. The 30 minute Inside Bearcats Basketball Preview special will premiere October 29 at 6pm with replays. In addition to featuring highlights from last season, the show will provide analysis of this offseason and projections of the upcoming season.

Coverage of Bearcats men’s basketball begins Sunday, Nov. 11th with a match-up versus Tennessee-Martin at 2pm. FOX Sports Ohio will also produce games featuring opponents including North Carolina A&T, Campbell, Arkansas-Little Rock, Maryland-Eastern Shore and Wright State. FOX Sports Ohio will also produce two women’s games featuring match-ups with Xavier and Seton Hall.

Tom Gelehrter, the Bearcats’ director of new media for the department of athletics, will do play-by-play for both men’s and women’s games produced by FOX Sports Ohio. Terry Nelson will be the color analyst for the men’s games while Betsy Ross will be the color analyst for the women’s games.

The Mick Cronin edition of Bearcats Sports Weekly premieres on Dec. 13 and will air Thursdays at 6pm. Additional replays will also be scheduled around the network’s programming later the same evening. The show will continue to be hosted by Gelehrter. Bearcats Sports Weekly will also be linked nationwide through the FCS (FOX College Sports) Network. Check local listings for times and dates.

Reds Live Postgame Show after every Reds playoff game

FOX Sports Ohio will present a one-hour Reds Live postgame show, presented by Leinenkugel Oktoberfest, immediately following Cincinnati Reds’ playoff games.


Reds Live is scheduled to air following NLDS games on Saturday, Oct. 6th, Sunday, Oct. 7th, and Tuesday, Oct. 9th, as well as Wednesday, Oct. 10th and Thursday, Oct. 11th should the series go all five games. Please visit www.reds.com for a complete NLDS schedule of game times and network coverage.

The NLDS postgame shows will be anchored from the Reds Live set at Great American Ball Park for home and away games. Chris Welsh and Jim Day will host from Reds Live desk, and Jeff Piecoro will report from the home or away field and clubhouse.

FOX Sports Ohio will also re-air the postgame shows from 8am – 9am the following weekday, with the exception of Saturday and Sunday mornings.

The network and FOX Sports Ohio Girls will additionally be at the Holy Grail in the Banks, courtesy of Miller Lite, an hour before each Reds NLDS playoff game with games and prizes! Fans are encouraged to join the party and cheer on the Reds.

Reds Ratings Reach All Time High


Viewership for Cincinnati Reds telecasts on FOX Sports Ohio reached an all-time high in 2012. The network’s 145 games averaged an 8.53 household rating in the Cincinnati DMA, according to The Nielsen Co., up 18 percent from 2011.

July of 2012, averaging a 9.27 household rating, was the highest rated month ever for Reds on FOX Sports Ohio. Of the network’s 145 game schedule, 93 prime time games averaged a 9.09 household rating. Additionally, the Reds averaged an 8.81 household rating during the Olympics.

The season average 8.53 household rating surpasses the previous season high of 7.45 in 2010. Available ratings data goes back to 1997.

2012-13 Xavier Musketeer Basketball on FOX Sports Ohio

FOX Sports Ohio and Xavier University today announced its complete Xavier men’s basketball package for the 2012-2013 season.

The network’s 2012-13 Xavier basketball schedule includes seven games locally-produced by FOX Sports Ohio. FOX Sports Ohio will additionally produce Musketeers Live, a 30-minute pregame show before each game.

Tip-off for the first Musketeer game on FOX Sports Ohio is Friday, November 9 at 7pm as Xavier hosts Fairleigh Dickinson. A complete schedule is available HERE.

Play-by-play announcer Brad Johansen and color analyst Steve Wolf will return to the broadcast table to call all the action for the games. Jim Day will host the pregame show as well as serve as sideline reporter.
